SHAH ALAM, Oct 29 — The Selangor Umno& yesterday thanked Prime Minister & Datuk& Seri Najib& Razak& on the announcement to abolish the toll collection at Batu& Tiga& here and Sungai& Rasau& in Klang, effective Jan 1 next year.
The members gathered in an area near the Batu& Tiga& Toll Plaza here yesterday, some holding banners with words thanking the prime minister, to make known their gratitude.
Among the leaders present were Selangor Barisan& Nasional (BN) chairman& Tan Sri Noh Omar, Shah Alam& Umno& division leader Datuk Azhari Shaari& and its Youth leader, Datuk Ahmad Mua’adzam Shah Yaakop.
Noh, when met by reporters, said the proposal to abolish the toll collection, as announced by the prime minister when tabling the 2018 Budget on Friday, followed the continuous efforts by Selangor Umno, especially its Shah Alam division, since 2014.
“So we, on behalf of the Selangor people, thank the prime minister for the announcement on Friday which I believe can help reduce the people’s living cost, especially those commuting the routes to work,” he added.
The toll rate at Batu Tiga& is RM1.10 for a one-way trip and RM1 at the Sungai& Rasau& Toll Plaza. — Bernama
